Seòladair na h-Inntinn

from Twenty First Century Fool by Ewan Macintyre

/

about

This song started off as a chorus in 2012 that I made into a short sample and sat with for 10 years until I was finally ready to embark on Gàidhlig songwriting. I wanted to create a mini series of Gàidhlig animations set in an alternative universe where Gàidhlig is the presdominant language spoken.

In this particular story, the main character has been exhiled to a small island and kept alive by machines physically but mentally, to cope with the situation sends their mind off to distant lands.

lyrics

Ged a tha mi còmhla riut, tha mi fada sna speuran
Glacte a-staigh mo chuimhne, tarraing bho do ghreim
Caithte anns na bruadaran aonar is eadar saobh-shruth
Sgapta às mo chruth, cleithte bho mo rùn

Seòladair na h-inntinn
Fada bho do gràdh
Aodan gheal, tha e tinn le inntinn

Air eilean leat fhèin, seachranach nad cheum
deas d'eanchainn; beàrn nach gheibh thu greim
Innealan fhathast ruith, ag ith na tèid a-muigh
Fad na làithean dìreach suith, is chan eil mòran leantainn neo cinntinn

Ged a tha mi còmhla riut, tha mi fada sna speuran
Glacte a-staigh mo chuimhne, tarraing bho do ghreim
Caithte anns na bruadaran aonair is eadar saobh-shruth
Sgapta às mo chruth, cleithte bho mo rùn

Seòladair na h-inntinn
Fada bho do gràdh
Aodan gheal, tha e tinn le inntinn

Seòladair na h-Inntinn (English translation)

Though I am with you I am far in the sky
Caught in my memory, Pulled away from your grip
Worn away in the dreams of a loner, in between the false current
Devided from my form, hidden from my desire

Voyager of the mind
Far from your love
Whitened face, he is sick with interest

Alone, by yourself on an island
Wandering in your footsteps
In the south of your mind
A void that you cannot fill
Machines are still running
Consuming what comes out
All days are spend just sitting
There is not much understanding or growth
