Fall in Canada

from Twenty First Century Fool by Ewan Macintyre

/

about

This song took form in the park opposite Ewan and Karine's Montreal appartement in autumn 2020 and was first jammed with Arthur Smith who suggested the Am chord at the end of the progressive. Minor 4th - got to love it. The lyrics speak for what it's about. Mostly, the realisation that it's time to go back home to Scotland after 7 years in Montreal. For the Brits, "Fall" is north America for autumn.

lyrics

Fall in Canada
Reds are turning brown
All the leaves are falling down

How many times must the seasons change
I'm kicking up leaves as the light starts to fade
Circling round, another year gone by again
I'm breathing in and rising just to fall, fall, fall

Though I hate to leave, It's time to go
Been coming on for a while
Where goes all the time?

Seven year come round and go again
Never know where to begin, never see the end
Cycles go by and take time to sink in
I'm breathing in and rising just to fall, fall, fall
